Dmitry Muratov is a Russian journalist, fiduciary of the charity foundation “Gift of Life”, recipient of the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize, recipient of the National Order of the Legion of Honour and the Order of the Cross Terra Mariana, Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s Four Freedoms Award. He has been Editor-in-Chief at the newspaper Novaya Gazeta since the paper was first founded in 1993. In 2022, Muratov put his Nobel medal up for auction and it was purchased for 103.5 million US dollars, which Muratov donated through UNICEF to help Ukrainian children suffering due to Russian aggression.
